When I started my new job a strong desire to get a doggie-kid arose in me. Desire not just to get a dog but to adopt! Sadly, it was not the 'puppy season' in Roorkee and the adult dogs already had mentor-families.
I started looking for doggie-babies online and saw a post in a Facebook page (
Adopt a Pet) with Mitsy up for adoption. They had found her on streets of Noida and were scared that she will be hit by a car. We knew it was 'her', who we were going to bring home.

We told 'her' foster that we want to name 'her' Mitsy. We traveled to Noida the next day and noticed that
Mitsy responded immediately to the name we had picked for her. Mitsy turned out to be far more intelligent than the two GSDs I had lived with earlier. More interestingly, he turned out to be a 'he' and not 'she'!

I can not say that it was love at first sight with Mitsy, but it was definitely a
deep promise at first sight. When still at his foster's home I quietly promised Mitsy that
I will always be there to nurture 'her'. He in turn slept on my lap within two minutes.
Since then, Mitsy has traveled to Gangotri with me, made few canine friends, learned many commands and obedience thingies. But what he has given me outweighs all of it - He taught me patience, discipline, companionship and unalloyed trust.

Yes, we love him to moon and back and each day he triggers tenderness in the soft pulsating organ in our chests.
There was a time when I wished to get rid of the street dogs because I was very afraid of them. Mitsy has opened my heart to all the animals. Now I love to talk to and feed the streeties whenever possible.
Often during our daily walks some people take pains to stop by and tell me that I made a mistake by getting a 'desi', for I should have gone for a 'good' dog. We humans can be so ridiculous! Mitsy on the other hand does not seem to ask for a human companion that looks a certain way. Any who, Mitsy is the loveliest dog (in the history of dogs) for this and many more innumerable reasons.

I feel more human now -thanks to our 'animal' companion.
