"“Love is God’s trap,”
and love is also the noose
around the neck of the lover,
hanging him till he dies
so that the Beloved can live within him:
“The Beloved is living, the lover is dead.”
To quote al-Ghazzâlî: “There is nothing good in love without death.”
Slowly the ego dies.
Slowly the lover gets absorbed into the Beloved. "
